What can myofunctional therapy do?

Many common concerns, such as mouth breathing, teeth grinding, snoring, and poor sleep, often begin in the mouth. Oral myofunctional therapy addresses the underlying muscle habits of the tongue, lips, and jaw that influence how we breathe, swallow, and function each day.

By retraining these muscles, myofunctional therapy supports more natural breathing, improved sleep, and a better overall sense of wellbeing.

Why might I need myofunctional therapy?

You might benefit from myofunctional therapy if you notice any of the following:

Breathing & sleeping

  • Often breathe through the mouth instead of the nose
  • Snoring & sleep apnea
  • Trouble sleeping or feeling tired during the day
  • Dry mouth or chapped lips

Tongue & mouth habits

  • Tongue pushes against teeth when swallowing
  • Difficulty closing lips together at rest
  • Tongue tie or limited tongue movement
  • Lisp or trouble pronunciating certain sounds

Teeth & jaw

  • Teeth grinding or clenching
  • Jaw pain, headaches, or facial tension
  • Teeth shifting because of tongue habits
  • Crowded teeth or bite problems (overbite, underbite, open bite)
